In 1958 Saturday morning school was abandoned in favour of Clubs, which required a teacher to come in and supervise. Interests varied greatly, from Tramping, Shooting and Woodwork Clubs to the Underwater, Judo and Slot Car Clubs.
In the 1950's, clubs included: Golf, Hobbies, Table tennis, Mechanics, Swords, Judo, Indoor Basketball, Lifesaving, Classical and Jazz, Choir, Dance Band, Photography, Woodwork, Model-making, Philately, Chess and Table-tennis, Young Farmers, Flying, Tramping, Shooting, Squash, the Car and the Slot Car Club.
The Projectionist Club in 1967 held Saturday evening films in the Hall on a large screen of painted white pinex, which covered the entire wall at the back of the sate. Mr Meehan, the Senior Housemaster, organised the hiring of the feature film reels, and proceeded to train Projectionists from the Senior School, to enable them to show the files to the whole school, including the Boarding Staff.
By 1984, Clubs included the Underwater Club, the Repousse Club [working with Copper foil], an Equestrian Club and the Share Market Club. The share-market club finished 15th out of 210 Schools in the National Secondary School’s Competition.
