The scholarships which are awarded from under-graduate to doctoral level, were recently presented at a ceremony at C Company Memorial House in Tai Rāwhiti / Gisborne. In attendance were several MPs, Willie Apiata VC and Tā /Sir Robert Gillies, the last surviving member of the 28th Māori Battalion.
These important scholarships are awarded to Māori who are involved in tertiary studies and who represent the values upheld by the 28th Māori Battalion. The scholarships are designed to inspire, reward and support Māori achievement and success in education. Recipients were supported and celebrated at the award ceremony by whanau.
Heremia is studying a conjoint degree in law and commerce at Victoria University this year. The College takes immense pride in his significant achievement and would like to congratulate him and his whanau.
