Old Boy Success at Smedley Prize Giving

It is always extremely pleasing when we hear news of a student who has left Lindisfarne and gone on to achieve wonderful things in the wider world.

Fletcher Ware is a great example of this having graduated from Smedley at the end of 2023. Fletch has obviously found a career that he is passionately interested in, and his achievements have matched that passion as he graduated as the top cadet and won four additional awards.

He was awarded the Sheppard Agriculture award for Emerging Data Farmer, the AFFCO and HB Chamber of Commerce Annual Proficiency Award for All-round Excellence, the Ballance Agri Nutrient Award for Stockmanship and most special of all, his peers voted for him as winner of the Smith Family Team Player Trophy and the Shepherd prize awarded to the cadet displaying the best team player qualities.

Winning all these prestigious trophies across a range of skills is a testament to the hard work and dedication that Fletch has shown over his course at Smedley and he can be justifiably proud of his achievements. He has already secured a job at Erewhon Station on the Napier Taihape Road, not too far from his home turf.

Bugs Butler also did very well at the Smedley prize-giving, taking out the Machinery Award, the First Year Cadet Top Academic Results and overall Best First Year Cadet. Congratulations to both these young men on their outstanding achievements.
