Old Boys News |
Tom has been studying Industrial Design at Massey University in Wellington and has two designs in the finals of this prestigious competition. The first is Aqua Stack, a children’s toy that combines a traditional block building toy with water play. It offers endless potential for all little builders through a multi-functional design that grows with the child in scale and complexity. His second design is a 12 metre working boat hull designed during the 36th America's Cup in Auckland. His project proposes the design of a Prada boat intended as a luxury spectators’ boat for the event and beyond. This project provided a rich sailing history and design language to draw from, making for an exciting yet challenging project.
Matt completed his Masters degree in Design at Victoria University and did his thesis in collaboration with the NZALS (New Zealand Artificial Limbs Service). His entry in the finals is the design for two prosthetic products using Digital and Additive manufacturing processes. Matt’s design for the The Easylimb and Easycover products aims to integrate the scanned prosthetic socket of an amputee and combine it with additional CAD modelling to create an all-in-one daily activity limb. His goal was to produce a full-length, lower-limb prosthesis which is low-maintenance, user friendly and care free to use in everyday activities.
Congratulations to both these Old Boys who have produced designs of outstanding originality and innovation.
