The event attracted a field of 181 from all over New Zealand and Mr. Duff was placed a very creditable third. During the course of the tournament, Sir Bob Charles, who is a patron of the New Zealand Golf Association was invited to play as a special guest and Mr. Duff had the honour of playing with him. Sir Bob is one of only two New Zealanders to ever win a major golf championship (British Open in 1963). Mr Duff said it was an absolute pleasure to play with Sir Bob who at the age of 84 still managed a round of 75.
